Greg Cater CRC® AIF®

Greg Cater, Sr. graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Economics in 1979 and was immediately accepted into a training position at Dean Witter Reynolds, a major New York Stock Exchange Firm. He has been in the securities industry ever since. At Dean Witter, he quickly progressed through the ranks of management. By the age of 28 he was a Senior Vice President and Branch Manager of 50 brokers in six satellite locations.

After 10 years of climbing the corporate ladder, Greg made the decision to concentrate on what he truly enjoyed: serving individual clients’ need for high quality, reliable, fixed yield solutions.

Immediately prior to joining First Allied Securities (now Cetera Advisors LLC), Greg spent more than 10 years working for The GMS Group as a Senior Vice President. It was during his tenure at The GMS Group that he was able to hone his skills and expertise in the municipal bond market.

In 2000, Greg decided to start his own practice and chose First Allied Securities as his partner. Since then, he has proven to be an invaluable asset to the broker/dealer, most recently serving on the Representative Advisory Council and now serving as an advisor for the Supervision Advisory Council.

Greg is known as a professional with subject matter expertise and is often used as a resource to explain the complex nuances of the debt market. Greg has also served as a non-public FINRA arbitrator since 1989.
